Personal Statement

Your personal statement is where you set the tone for the rest of your personal statement. Employers typically spend less than 20 seconds scanning your cv, so you want to start things off right. What are you like as an employee? Hardworking, How many years of experience do you have in the field? What are you looking for next in the next stage of your career. Keep this interesting and precise.

Professional services sector

Start with your latest position first. List your roles, responsibilities and achievements. State the type of employment eg: temp / perm contract. and again if you are brave enough at the end of each position listed include the RFL: (Reason for leaving). Here is an example: RFL: End of contract. Give the reader enough to paint a picture of you, your skills and what you are looking for next.

Education

Employers want to see if you are qualified to do the job at hand and so it is important to include this information on your cv. If you are applying for an accountant type role it is important to state if you are part qualified and fully qualified and the university you attended.

Hobbies / Other interests

This gives the employer a picture of what you like to do outside the workplace. Write the sports you like and again if you were the leader of the netball club or in a football team then include this. Remember your cv is to sell you as a person
